I use it when walking home in the huge parking lot at work. It's amazing because it easily lights up anything even over 50 yards. Also, I like it because you can quickly change out the 2 AA batteries and it fits in my pocket all day. I could never do this with my Maglite. It makes a great gift, i bought one for my father-in-law and he just loved it. It's a little more expensive but well worth it!

Brightest LED as can be and easy to use
I use it for fishing
The thing shines for ever. Bright and durable. I must have dropped it over 20 times and the bulb never went out. - a good feature too is the blinking mode for when we were driving in the dard and letting other boaters know we were around
Consumers Review: Brightest LED Flashlight On Only 2 Batteries!
My personal favorite for indoor use is the Rayovac Sportsman Xtreme 2AA 3 Watt Luxeon LED Flashlight ( SELUX2AA3W-B ).
This LED flashlight takes two AA batteries and produces 80 lumen. The sportsman extreme has DC/DC regulated circuitry allowing the brightest light over the lifetime of the battery, is made with aircraft grade aluminum and comes with a lifetime warranty; you can find it for around $25. I like it because it uses standard batteries, inexpensive, bright and has a lightweight compact design. It runs for about two hours.
Twice the size but still lightweight and the brightest for under $50 is the Rayovac Sportsman Xtreme 4W LED 3C Flashlight (RAYSE4W3C) that runs about $30 and produces 120 Lumen. It’s bigger than the the 3 Watt and powered by 3 C batteries.
I should note that Remington Arms Company is offering a Remington High-Performance LED Headlight (RMHL4AA-B) (for your head) that puts out 150 lumens and they claim it is the brightest head light you can get. It runs about $50, has colored LED’s for night vision, and blood tracking (when hunting). It uses 4 AA and runs 25 hours (low power) and 4 hours full power.
Remington Arms also offers a RM123A-B 150 lumens, 3W LED handheld flashlight, but it takes expensive 2 CR123A Lithium batteries.
* Winner for under $50 is Rayovac Sportsman Xtreme 4W LED 3C Flashlight (RAYSE4W3C)
What is an LED?
LED’s are extremely energy efficient, providing longer battery life. LED's last a lifetime over 50,000 - 100,000 hours and are lighter and much whiter. They are virtually shatter proof and since they don’t heat up they are very safe, won’t crack, and are vibration resistant. On the other hand, Incandescent bulbs drain battery life, only last 20-30 hours, break easily and light in a yellowing nature.
LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. It’s not a bulb, it does not use a filament. It’s plastic with phosphorous coating and metal conductor that produces light. Similar to a transistor. (The LED itself is a solid-state electronic device which means it can never burn out. LEDs are highly efficient and made without glass.
Measurement Used
